Messiah Of Evil
Years before they teamed up with George Lucas for HOWARD THE DUCK, filmmakers Willard Hyuck and Gloria Katz cobbled together this nightmarish 1973 horror masterpiece (also shown as DEAD PEOPLE) that will haunt you forever. When a young girl goes looking for her missing artist father, she ends up in the coastal town of Point Dune, where she finds that the population are turning into ghoulish fiends, all under the control of a malevolent angel of death. Or something. Plot mechanics take a backseat to eerie imagery, dense atmosphere, eye-popping art direction and a general sense of something being deeply wrong. MESSIAH OF EVIL is '70s art horror at its finest.
